Available in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, Foamex signs are ideal for exhibitions, retail displays, event signage, and hoardings. For added impact, we offer contour cutting to any shape, plus matt or anti-graffiti laminates - details of which can be found below.
Our largest sheet size is 2440mm x 1220mm, and this can be cut to any size you like. Popular Foamex sign sizes include A1, A2, A3, A4, and A0. Boards can also be butted together to create a larger graphic, ideal for large exhibitions, retail and shop signage.

Foamex Sign Laminates
Matt Textured Laminate: Our matt laminate option is a scratch-resistant PVC laminate ideal for Foamex prints. The 80µ laminate has a 3-5 year outdoor life to protect your artwork for longer. It provides a good degree of protection against general wear and tear as well are reducing glare on prints.
Anti-Graffiti Laminate: Our anti-graffiti laminate is a great premium option. It comes with a 3-year outdoor life. The main benefit of this solution is that any graffiti can be easily removed by using common solvents such as acetone or methanol, without damaging your printed artwork. This eco-friendly material is PVC-free and is also fire-rated to B-s1,d0 (EN 13501-1).

Our Foamex printing uses latex inks, which is a more sustainable option than traditional solvent inks that are used by other companies.An added benefit of latex inks is that they are odourless, so no nasty smells distracting from your message.
The HP Latex inks we use are UL ECOLOGO, GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified, and use Eco Mark-Certified ink cartridges that meet stringent environmental standards.

Wanted a base and foamex sign to go in it. They did a fab job sorting out artwork for me when I couldn?t provide it to the spec needed. They worked really hard to get everything sorted to meet my timescale - delivery company let us down but I received a refund for the delivery cost because of this. I don't have print ready artwork, can you design it for me?
If you have the elements, such as text, logos, and text, we can take these and create a print ready design layout for you at a small additional cost. We have a number of affordable set price packages available to suit any requirements. Many of our products have a design service as an additional extra for instant ordering. Many of our print products have the option to upload your artwork on the product page. If that option is not available, you will receive an email shortly after placing your order with instructions on how to send your artwork files.
In order to avoid any delays in production, please follow our guidelines below to make sure your artwork is ready to go. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch to talk to one of our team.
Resolution - 100dpi At Full Size
Generally, 100 dpi is a good standard for images with the document size set at full size of the large format printed product. For example, if you want to order a 40"×60" print, the image size should be 4000 pixels (40 x 100) by 6000 pixels (60 x 100) at 100 dpi.

25% scale at 400 dpi
10% scale at 1000 dpi
If any dimension of the product is greater than 5000mm, please produce the artwork to scale. For very large artwork such as hoarding walls, 10% scale can be utilised at 1000dpi for images, or use vectors as these will scale perfectly.
Bleed - 5mm All Around At The Final Print Size
If you are creating set size artwork for hardware then please use the product template. If you have ordered a custom size product please ensure you include 5mm of bleed on your design.
You only need to add print bleed to your artwork if the design extends to the edge of the page. If all of your text and images are in the centre of the design and are surrounded by a plain white background, you won’t need to worry about print bleed as the edges will blend seamlessly into your overall design. If any element of the design goes right up to the edge of the page, a 5mm bleed on all sides is necessary.
Colours - Please Supply All Colours As CMYK+
Computer screens use RGB, while printers use CMYK. You may ask why this matters? Most colours created in RGB can be closely matched in CMYK but some cannot. If colours are critical we always suggest ordering a printed proof.
Other things you can do to check your colours:
- Use a calibrated monitor (colours vary from monitor to monitor)- Use a printed CMYK colour swatch to check your colours
- Don't check samples from a desktop printer
- Order a printed proof from us (this may cause an increase in lead time)
Fonts - Please Embed, Flatten, Or Convert To Curves
For large format print, we recommend that the minimum font site is 8pt (point size).
Our preferred file format for print-ready artwork is a PDF, please make sure you embed any fonts for perfect results. With other file formats please ensure fonts used in your design are converted to outlines and include all fonts and images used when you send your files to us.
Do You Need A Proof?
If you are providing print ready artwork, we do not provide a proof as standard, which enables us to get your print to you quicker. If you require a proof please get in touch with us to discuss. We do provide a free technical file check as standard, as outlined below.
We can provide a machine print proof for the extra cost of £25 plus delivery. This involves printing an A3 proof on the machine that will be used to produce your final print. This will give you an accurate representation of colour. If you are using our design service, we do send out a PDF proof, which is an accurate representation of content and positioning. It is not an exact indicator of the final colour due to the limitations of screens.
Quoted delivery dates for print are from approval of artwork, so please bear in mind that requesting a proof may delay the delivery date of your product.

After you have placed your order a provisional despatch and delivery date will be sent to you via email.
Our standard delivery time for printed products is 2-5 working days after artwork has been approved for print. If you have a specific deadline, please contact us to ensure we can meet this. Please check that your artwork meets the guidelines above to prevent any delays in approval.
Free Artwork Check
Before we go to print, we will carry out a free technical check on your artwork. If there are any issues, we will contact you to let you know what needs to be changed.

Colour Matching
Our printers and media are of the highest standard and are carefully calibrated to produce vibrant, full colour prints. The process involves CMYK printing and this means it is not always possible to match Pantone colours, but they will be converted to the nearest CMYK equivalent.
If exact colour matching is critical, please send us a physical copy of other printed material, such as a letterhead or brochure, and we will check your file prior to printing. If we cannot achieve a reasonable match we will call you to discuss.

What is Foamex?
Foamex is the brand name of a type of rigid PVC foam sheet material. It is a very popular sign material that performs like a solid plastic material. Also known as Forex, the board is not "foamy" but is very dense for a durable yet lightweight finish. Foamex is available in 3mm, 5mm, and 10mm thickness.

Is Foamex the same as foam core or foam board?
No. Foam core is a sandwich construction with two hard surfaces. Foamex is a solid PVC board and is far more durable. Foam core (Aka Gatorfoam) is only used for temporary indoor displays, whereas Foamex can be used outside and for longer-term projects.
What size can Foamex signs be?
Sheet sizes up to 8' x 4' (2440 x 1220mm) can be printed. An 8' x 4' sheet can be expensive to transport, so we may suggest that they are supplied in a couple of pieces. If an 8' x 4' sheet is critical, we can arrange for van delivery in the London area, or for nationwide deliveries quote you a pallet delivery charge, which can be quite economical for multiple sheet orders. Custom sizes and customer shapes are available.
What thickness are Foamex boards?
The most popular sizes are 3mm and 5mm. 3mm is popular for smaller interior signs and exhibition graphics, while 5mm is more common for larger signs.
3mm Foamex Board:More flexible and lightweight. Ideal for indoor events, shows, and displays. Can be mounted using Velcro or drilled for screws.
5mm Foamex Board:Much more robust and durable. Suitable for larger signs and long-term outdoor use. Can be used in free-standing displays with aRigid Banner Stand Wedge.
Which is better for indoor and outdoor use?
Foamex is 100% waterproof and moisture-resistant, so it is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. A thicker Foamex board will provide much greater resistance to the effects of the weather. Choosing a 5mm board rather than a 3mm Foamex board will likely prolong the effects of the weather, reducing the likelihood of warping in the sun and breaking due to wind. However, both will, over time, tend to fade at the same rate.
Is Foamex eco-friendly?
Foamex is not biodegradable, but it can be recycled. We print our boards using latex eco-friendly inks. HP Latex inks are water-based and have great outdoor durability and versatility. They are also ideal for indoor use, as they are odourless, non-flammable, and non-combustible—perfect for offices, schools, and healthcare environments.
How is the print accuracy?
Our quality of print is second to none. Call us for your free sample. The print accuracy of Foamex is incredible, no matter the thickness of the board chosen, with direct-to-panel printing using fade-resistant latex inks providing long-lasting weather-resistant results. We provide a smooth, matt silk finish with any custom graphic you may choose.
Is Foamex waterproof?
Yes, Foamex is waterproof, 100% water-repellent, and moisture-proof, making it ideal for outdoor use. Great for medium-term use of 3-5 years.
Is Foamex fire retardant?
Foamex is manufactured from a fire retardant raw material. It is a non-inflammable combustible material with a Class 1 fire rating. The polystyrene will burn when in contact with a flame but will self-extinguish when the fire source is removed.
Can Foamex be recycled?
Foamex is an eco-friendly material that can be recycled along with other PVC products.
How quickly will I get my Foamex boards?
Print time depends on our production load. The average print dispatch time is 2-5 working days. However, if you have a tight deadline, it's always worth talking to us—we may be able to squeeze it in. If you want your Foamex cut to a custom shape, that may add a day to the lead time.
Once your job has been printed, we can offer next-day delivery service to virtually all UK mainland locations. For the London area, we also offer a dedicated same-day delivery service for your Foamex signs after printing and finishing. This service costs a little extra, but we strongly recommend dedicated van delivery for large signs delivered locally to maximise safety. For nationwide deliveries, we can quote you a pallet delivery charge for large panels, which tends to be the safest and most economical for multiple sheet orders.
