Foamex is the brand name of a type of rigid PVC Foam sheet material. It is a very popular sign material that performs like a solid plastic material. Also known as Forex, the board is not "foamy" but is very dense for a durable yet lightweight finish.

No. Foam core is a sandwich construction with two hard surfaces. Foamex is a solid PVC board and is far more durable. Foam core (Aka Gatorfoam) is only used for temporary indoor displays and can be easily dented or damaged. Foamex is more durable and can put up with the traffic you might expect at a trade show.

The most popular sizes for display panels is 3mm. It is lightweight but is ideal when you are mounting it onto a wall. Furthermore, due to its lightweight nature, you are able to mount a 3mm board using velcro. This is commonly the only way to display at some exhibitions on shell scheme walls. If you intend to hang your panel under a truss for example then we would suggest going for 5mm thick material which being thicker is more rigid.

The most common fixing method for Foamex display boards is self-adhesive velcro. Self-adhesive velcro comes in two parts. Hook and loop. Shell scheme panels at exhibitions are often covered in loop nylon. If you want to attach display panels to a loop nylon panel then you need to stick a self-adhesive "hook" to your display panel. The hook velcro on the panel can be attached to the loop on the shell scheme and be removable. If the wall you are attaching your display panel to is smooth, then you can still use velcro. You will once again stick the self-adhesive hook to your display panel. The easiest way to do this is to join your velcro strip or coin together. Remove the backing on the self-adhesive from the hook part and stick both the hook and loop to the display panel. Now remove the backing on the self-adhesive from the loop part and stick that onto the smooth wall. If you have a truss stand then drilling holes and using cable ties can be an easy solution. For custom-built stands, split battens are a simple and popular solution that your stand builder may use.

We print directly onto the surface of the material. Our UV and eco-friendly ink is fade and abrasion-resistant. Printing directly onto the surface of the sign is more effective and longer-lasting than printing onto vinyl which is subsequently applied to the plastic.

Foamex is manufactured from a fire retardant raw material. It is a non-inflammable combustible material with a Class 1 fire rating. The polystyrene will burn when in contact with a flame, but will self extinguish when the fire source is removed.

Foamex is an eco-friendly material that can be recycled along with other PVC products.

You can easily clean your sign by wiping it down with a non-abrasive wet cloth or rag.

Simply store them flat at room temperature and avoid any rooms or storage places that have extremes in cold, heat or humidity.
