Everything You Need to Know About Banner Stands

Banner stands are undeniably one of the most effective marketing display that a business can own. They are versatile, budget-friendly, and easy to use, and they tick off a lot of promotional boxes. In this blog, we will explore everything one needs to know about them. From what exactly banner stands are, the different types of stands and their benefits, and where you would use them.

What is a banner stand?

In short, a banner stand is a freestanding display that holds a printed banner. They are a great way to showcase promotional messages and branding at exhibitions or other marketing environments as they are highly portable. They come in a range of widths, starting from 800mm up to 2400mm.

How do they work?

Roller banners are the most popular type of banner stand. With roller-style banners, the banner graphic is rolled within a spring mechanism inside the base of the stand. To erect, the graphic is unravelled and attached to a tensioned rod which keeps the banner upright and taut. Additionally, the standard size is 800mm or 1000mm, but we also offer extra wide roller banners in 2m widths.

On the other hand, with tension-style banners there is no base unit for the graphic to store in. Instead, they are assembled by securing a separate fabric banner to the corners of the frame, keeping the banner taut.

Roller Banner stands

Roller banners are easy to use as the banner can simply be pulled up and secured. Due to the banner being stored inside the base unit, the graphic is protected from marks and scratches during transportation. In essence, they are an affordable display solution with a high impact, making them a cost-effective choice. To replace or change the graphic, these stands need to be sent back to the company to do in-house.

Tensioned Banner stands

An alternative to retractable models. Tensioned banners are lighter and cheaper than roller banners. There are no moving parts or mechanisms, meaning changing the banner is simple. Though they are easy to erect, they do take slightly longer to put up. The fabric banners can be easily swapped in and out so are ideal for rotating between promotional graphics.

These stands are specifically designed for use outdoors. At Discount Displays, our outdoor banner stands are constructed to withstand wind speeds of around 12-16mph. For the purpose of added stability, these outdoor stands can have water-filled bases. To protect against the rain, they have waterproof PVC graphics to ensure the banners last time and time again.

Replaceable Cassette Banners

By comparison, these are similar to roller banner stands. With replaceable cassette banners, the graphic cartridge is independent of the base unit. This means that graphics can be easily swapped in and out – no need to send the stand away. With this in mind, these  are ideal for companies that frequently change or want to rotate their promotional messages.

Double-sided stands have a printed graphic on both sides of the banner. For this reason, you can choose to either display the same message on both sides or use something completely different. Our range of double-sided banner stands are available in a variety of stand types, including roller, tensioned and outdoor.

Above all, banner stands are a versatile and cost-effective marketing tool that helps businesses showcase promotional messages and branding in various environments. As shown above, each type of banner stand offers unique benefits, from portability and easy setup to weather resistance and easily swappable graphics.
