We have a number of affordable set price packages available to suit any requirements. Many of our products have a design service as an additional extra for instant ordering. Many of our print products have the option to upload your artwork on the product page. If that option is not available, you will receive an email shortly after placing your order with instructions on how to send your artwork files.
In order to avoid any delays in production, please follow our guidelines below to make sure your artwork is ready to go. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch to talk to one of our team.
Resolution - 100dpi At Full Size
Generally, 100 dpi is a good standard for images with the document size set at full size of the large format printed product. For example, if you want to order a 40"×60" print, the image size should be 4000 pixels (40 x 100) by 6000 pixels (60 x 100) at 100 dpi.
100% scale at 100 dpiIf any dimension of the product is greater than 5000mm, please produce the artwork to scale. For very large artwork such as hoarding walls, 10% scale can be utilised at 1000dpi for images, or use vectors as these will scale perfectly.
Bleed - 5mm All Around At The Final Print Size
If you are creating set size artwork for hardware then please use the product template. If you have ordered a custom size product please ensure you include 5mm of bleed on your design.
You only need to add print bleed to your artwork if the design extends to the edge of the page. If all of your text and images are in the centre of the design and are surrounded by a plain white background, you won’t need to worry about print bleed as the edges will blend seamlessly into your overall design. If any element of the design goes right up to the edge of the page, a 5mm bleed on all sides is necessary.
Colours - Please Supply All Colours As CMYK+
Computer screens use RGB, while printers use CMYK. You may ask why this matters? Most colours created in RGB can be closely matched in CMYK but some cannot. If colours are critical we always suggest ordering a printed proof.
Other things you can do to check your colours:
- Use a calibrated monitor (colours vary from monitor to monitor)Fonts - Please Embed, Flatten, Or Convert To Curves
For large format print, we recommend that the minimum font site is 8pt (point size).
Our preferred file format for print-ready artwork is a PDF, please make sure you embed any fonts for perfect results. With other file formats please ensure fonts used in your design are converted to outlines and include all fonts and images used when you send your files to us.
Do You Need A Proof?
If you are providing print ready artwork, we do not provide a proof as standard, which enables us to get your print to you quicker. If you require a proof please get in touch with us to discuss. We do provide a free technical file check as standard, as outlined below.
We can provide a machine print proof for the extra cost of £25 plus delivery. This involves printing an A3 proof on the machine that will be used to produce your final print. This will give you an accurate representation of colour. If you are using our design service, we do send out a PDF proof, which is an accurate representation of content and positioning. It is not an exact indicator of the final colour due to the limitations of screens.
Quoted delivery dates for print are from approval of artwork, so please bear in mind that requesting a proof may delay the delivery date of your product.
Delivery
After you have placed your order a provisional despatch and delivery date will be sent to you via email.
Our standard delivery time for printed products is 2-5 working days after artwork has been approved for print. If you have a specific deadline, please contact us to ensure we can meet this. Please check that your artwork meets the guidelines above to prevent any delays in approval.
Free Artwork Check
Before we go to print, we will carry out a free technical check on your artwork. If there are any issues, we will contact you to let you know what needs to be changed.
Colour Matching
Our printers and media are of the highest standard and are carefully calibrated to produce vibrant, full colour prints. The process involves CMYK printing and this means it is not always possible to match Pantone colours, but they will be converted to the nearest CMYK equivalent.
If exact colour matching is critical, please send us a physical copy of other printed material, such as a letterhead or brochure, and we will check your file prior to printing. If we cannot achieve a reasonable match we will call you to discuss.
Please send any physical examples to: Discount Displays, 31-35 Wortley Road, Croydon, Surrey, CRO 3EB.

Q: Why use banner PVC?
A: PVC banner material is the most popular material for making personalised banners. It consists of a strong nylon inner mesh that makes it durable and rip-resistant. The mesh is then coated with a smooth PVC to the front. We use a white PVC banner material and custom print colours onto the banner using state of the art wide format vinyl printers.
Q: How long will my printed banner last?
A: Banners are intended for temporary signage. How long they will last depends on where and how they are used. Banners used indoors will last many years. Outdoors the limiting factor will be how the banner is hung and the weather. A PVC banner fixed to a wall will last years, whereas a banner strung across a road in a windy location will have a much shorter life span. The inks we use are UV stable and weather resistant and will give at least 3 years of use before any noticeable colour fade. In shady locations, they will last longer.
Q: How should I look after my PVC banner?
A: Make sure that they do not flap against awnings, walls, or sharp edges. The banner should be taken down in high wind conditions. Use all the eyelets to secure your banner rather than just the end ones. When storing your banner make sure it is rolled with the graphics facing inwards. Folding a PVC banner will leave unsightly creases, so ideally store your banner in a tube.
Q: Are your banner inks suitable for indoor use as well?
A: We use eco friendly latex inks which are UV stable for outdoor use, but have the added benefit of being odourless making them ideal for indoor banners. Solvent banners can give off an unpleasant smell in confined areas.
Q: Can you design the banner for me?
A: If you don't have a banner design that is no problem, we can create a design for you. All we need is a brief and the design elements such as text, preferred fonts and colours and any images you may wish to use. Alternatively, you could choose from our range of pre-designed banners, which include Birthday banners, Christmas banners, Valentine banners and many more categories.
Q: Banner sizes?
A: One of the benefits of banners is that there are few size restrictions. Our printer can print full-colour banners in one piece up to 2.5m wide by 50m long!. For wider PVC banners such as building wraps and hoardings, pieces of banner material can be welded together to create a seamless graphic, so there is pretty much no limit on banner size. Our most common banner sizes are 10' x 3' and 8' x 2'.
Q: Banner design tips?
A: Keep it simple. Often people only have seconds to see your banner. Use block letter fonts for important information rather than fancy scripts. Don't stretch words too much out of proportion, Use high dark colours on a light background or light colours on a dark background.
Q: How do I provide the artwork?
A: The design you provide for your banner will be checked prior to printing to make sure the file has all the information we need. If there are any issues we will contact you to discuss remedies prior to printing as long as time permits.
Q: How will my banner be finished?
A: Most PVC banners are finished with turned edges. Doubling over the edges gives additional strength to the banner and also creates a strong base for fitting eyelets. Banners can also be made with simply cut edges which would be used for example on an interior hanging banner. Pockets can also be made in the banner which are ideal for scaffold banners or retail banners where a top pole and weighted bottom pole can be used for hanging.
Q: How should I hang my banner?
A: Banners can be used in many locations making them an ideal advertising method. Most PVC banners are finished with turned edges and eyelets. To attach your banner to a fence or banner frame we recommend elastic bungees. These are adjustable so you can position the banner in the best way possible. Banner bungees also take up some of the strain off the grommets as the banner moves in the wind extending banner lifespan. Cable ties can also be used but don't have any give and can't be reused. Rope is also fine but it takes longer to put your banner up. Whichever method you use try to use all the eyelets to spread the load and make your banner last longer. If you are fixing your personalised banner straight to a wall you can use washers and screws and fix it directly to the wall through the eyelets. If you are thinking of hanging your banner across a street (please consider a blackout banner) do not just hang the banner for the eyelets on either end. String wire cables across the street and hang your banner from the wire using carabiner hooks through the eyelets.
Q: Banner reading distances?
A: As a rough guide if you multiply the height of letters on your banner by 10 that would give you optimum viewing distance in feet. So a 12" letter would be fine at 120". The maximum readable distance would be about 500 feet.
